Porteur racks arrived!
This is one of the first projects Chris and I collaborated on, even before I worked with him full time. It spurred on the other racks we had made in Taiwan, which actually arrived sooner than the original Porteur rack.
This is the writeup on the VO Imports site:
This is a traditional-style Portuer rack as used on the famous Parisian newspaper delivery bikes. The platform is about 36cm x 29cm and it fits 700c, 26", and 650b bikes. A rail is included to prevent loose loads from sliding off.
All bits are made from stainless steel: the rack, rail, heavy duty strut, and connecting hardware. We are very impressed with the flawless welding and polishing- and we hope you are too. We pre-drilled the lower mounting tangs; there are 3 holes for fitting most 27", 700c, 650b, and even 26" wheel forks. Ideal placement is with the rack sitting as low as possible, right on the fender, improving both looks and handling.
It attaches to the brake pivot bolt with the included connecting strut. If your bike has the luxury of dual dropout eyelets, use the front. If there are only rear eyelets, a couple spacers (presta nuts are actually just the right thickness) between the tang and fork blade make for a cleaner look.
I air shipped 50 racks- with the balance arriving by boat sometime in Late October. Because of this I am allocating a maximum of 4 racks (master carton qty) for dealers.
